Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Where did EFT come from?

EFT roots are in acupuncture, kinesiology and psychology. EFT is spreading very rapidly in the US and in the UK, where the concept is now used in some specialist areas of the National Health Service.

How does EFT work?

The basic theory is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. EFT restores the body’s natural balance, removes the energy disruption and thus resolves the problem.

EFT relieves symptoms by the use of tapping with the fingertips on specific points on the energy meridians which neutralises disruptions in the body's electrical system.

It is the subject of much speculation why pain and physical problems respond to EFT in the same way as emotional problems. One clue may come from the recent discovery that the same area of the brain is used to deal with both depression and pain.

Are there any side-effects?

EFT is very gentle and rarely has any side effects. It is often combined with or used instead of other procedures, because of its gentle nature.  EFT and Hypnotherapy /NLP can be particularly effective.

Deeply rooted behaviours or beliefs will necessarily take longer to eliminate than some more simple problems.

Usually a person with even the most deeply rooted problems should start seeing real benefits within a few weeks, and some people just within a few minutes.
