ASSOCIATION OF NATURAL MEDICINE
Ten month Diploma course in
Hypnotherapy

The course consists of twelve days (78 hours) of training held over a ten month period; six Saturdays and three weekends, with an examination in the tenth month.

Whether you wish to become a practitioner, or not you will be very welcome on the course. Many people use this course for their own personal development, or to fulfil a long term interest in the subject.

The course will be largely practical with lectures in between exercises. Notes will be provided but students are expected to extend this work with their own personal reading. relevant books will be suggested to accompany lectures.

Throughout the course attention will be paid to the personal growth of students, through exercises, individual therapy and group discussion. Students will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to personal development.

Students will be taught to develop their own skills in the clinical art of observation and to have a respect for each individual, treating the whole person and not just the symptoms.
A range of hypnotherapeutic techniques will be taught including some NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming).

Although the course will be fairly intense, many of the subject areas will interlink, or overlap. The sessions will be essentially relaxed and enjoyable

The syllabus includes:

¨ The history of hypnosis
¨ Hypnotic induction and deepening techniques
¨ Age regression
¨ An introduction to Past life therapy
¨ The use of metaphor
¨ Guided imagery
¨ Relaxation techniques
¨ Anchoring

Areas covered will include:

¨ the treatment of phobias
¨ weight loss
¨ lack of confidence
¨ eating disorders
¨ depression
¨ smoking cessation.


One lecture per month will centre on a school of psychotherapy which connects with hypnotherapy, including Freud, Gestalt therapy, Transactional Analysis, Psychosynthesis and Behaviourism. There will be no examination in this area but the course work will include an essay on a relevant topic connected with hypnotherapy.
There will be no final practical examination as students will be in continual assessment on their practical ability during the course.

Students will receive monthly homework and will be assigned practical tasks to complete including two case studies. The final examination will consist of one paper on hypnotic techniques and a further paper on their application in therapy.

Students are strongly advised to undertake a course in counselling either before, or after this course to complement their studies.

The course is designed to develop your own relaxation skills to assist you to develop "sensory acuity" and to give you more insight into the way you run your brain, or the way your brain runs you!

Successful students will gain a diploma in hypnotherapy from the Association of Natural Medicine.

Practitioners may then apply for registration with the Association of Natural Medicine and for cover under the corporate insurance scheme. (Professional indemnity and public liability.)

Course fees will be £850- payable as £50 non-returnable deposit with the balance at the commencement of the course
Special arrangements can be made for payment in some cases

There will be an examination fee of £50- payable to The Association of Natural Medicine

Students are required to attend a minimum of three sessions of hypnotherapy and two of supervision during the course before taking the final examination.

All students are requested to adhere to the ANM code of ethics whilst training.

The sessions will run from 10am to 5pm with short breaks and a break for lunch between 1 and 2pm.
